Healthy Snacks Can Help Avoid Those Extra Calories
There are many of us who feed on snacks more than we feed on regular meals. Snacking is the way to go for so many people who are busy at work or who tend to reach out for food when stressed. People with busy lifestyle usually can’t afford the luxury time of enjoying proper meal. In such times snacks seem to be the ultimate option.

Stressful times are another timeframes when these snacks are in great demand. Most of us have felt the craving to binge in on a pizza or gorge on those sinful deserts when upset. Though the reasons are different, the solution is the same-snacking.

Gorging on unhealthy snacks all the time can have serious consequences on your health. Putting on extra kilos is just one of the effects of the ‘snacking’ virus. So what does one really do? Putting a complete full stop to snacks is just not possible, especially for people with busy schedules.

The solution lies in healthy snacks. Yes you read that right.

Snacking can be healthy too provided you are wise enough to choose the right options. For instance you could pick whole grain bread instead of white bread. And quite contrary to the popular notion that healthy snacks are something that can simply be gulped and not relished, these snacks can be a delight for the taste buds too.

Healthy snacks are available in plenty. It is just that you need to look for the right things. Vegetables dipped in hummus make for a great snack. Since vegetables are rich in fiber and low on calories they not just satiate your hunger but also keep extra calories a bay.

Another interesting healthy snack would be fat free yogurt. Mix this yogurt with some fruit and sprinkle it with some nuts. So you not just get your dairy serving, but you get that absolutely fat free. Or simply stock few fruits on a stick and use chocolate sauce as the dipping. While fruits score on the health quotient, chocolate dipping makes it tempting.

Smoothies make for another intelligent snack. Go in for all fruit based smoothies. Blueberries or peach smoothies are an intelligent option. If you are more of a milk person then silken tofu or soymilk can sever as great substitutes. You could even whip up a sandwich with some fiber reach vegetables mixed in thick yogurt.

The list of healthy snacking options just does not. Bean salad, tuna, baby carrots, pop corn, cherry tomatoes, a combination of celery and humus, dried peas, dried fruits are some other great options for healthy snacks. Switch to these healthy snacks and keep those extra calories at bay.
