One of the theories related to caffeine consumption says that, caffeine increases the metabolic rate of your body. This increased metabolic rate helps to burn more fat and thus produces more energy. Nowadays, this is the less respected theory.

The other theory says that caffeine is not good for weight management. It has a number of negative effects on the weight maintenance process. Caffeine has a negative effect on the body, as it raises the levels of stress hormones in the body. Apart from this, the amount of cortisol in the blood stream increases due to excessive caffeine intake. This, in turn increases the deposition of fat around the abdominal area.

Moreover, excessive caffeine increases the stress level in the body, which makes us feel hungry more frequently. Thus, this process increases your caloric intake and plays havoc with your calorie count. Caffeine consumption is often an outcome of emotional eating which results in increased body weight. Therefore, it is advisable that people who are on a slim down mission should avoid excessive intake of products containing caffeine.
