Protein Diet- The Healthiest Way to Lose Weight
Protein diet is a new entrant in the category of weight loss diets. Though it has been around for some years, its popularity was not as great as that of other types of weight loss diets. However, of late, a low carb, high protein diet has seen its popularity rise. Probably, the difficulty to lose weight through other diets has forced people to consider this option.

A protein diet is essentially a high-protein low carb diet. The working principle behind the diet is that if you control the level of insulin, you can regulate the presence of cholesterol, triglycerides, and fat inside your body. Further, high amount of protein would also result in the formation of muscles in our body which would then boost your metabolic order.

There is no specific regimen for a protein rich diet. There is no specific period for it as well. Anybody and everybody can take it up and continue for as long as possible. However, it would be ideal that such a diet becomes a part of your lifestyle as it would provide the essential building blocks for the body and would help you remain fit throughout your life. There are no side effects of this diet as well.

As to what all can be included in it depends upon the individual. There are many types of protein sources (both vegetarian and non-vegetarian) which can be included in the diet. Some of these are lentils, tofu, lean meat, steak, fish, egg white, milk and milk products. Though, not all of them may taste as good as the other things, their nutritional value is certainly higher than other types of foods.

You need not need follow a special diet plan as a protein diet. All you need to do is to increase the share of protein-rich ingredients in your daily meals. Further, it would be also beneficial to cut down on the amount of carbohydrate and trans-fat that you eat. Once that it is done you would see your weight coming down and energy levels increasing.

If you want to accelerate the rate of weight loss, you can eat low-carb foods along with foods rich in protein. Low carb foods may include green leafy vegetables, broccoli, eggplant, tomatoes, zucchini, asparagus, green beans, cucumber, celery, mushrooms, and avocado. Apart from that, you can eat olives, dairy products, and nuts to provide your body with healthy mono-saturated fats.
 
But watch out! You should not bring down the carbohydrate level in the diet to too low. Instead, you can take recourse to exercising and development of muscles which would increase the rate of metabolism inside the body. And that would be the healthiest way to lose weight.
